A local society begins
The organization began serving older adults in 1991 under the name Comox Valley Senior Peer Counselling Society. Its early identity reflected a focus on trained peers supporting other seniors.
- Over time
Support grows with community needs
Volunteer relationships remained central as the Society broadened its work to include navigation, caregiver support and connection between generations.
- Today
A regional name for a wider reach
The current brand, Senior Support North Vancouver Island, reflects service across communities from Bowser to north of Campbell River. The legal entity is SENIOR SUPPORT SOCIETY NORTH VANCOUVER ISLAND.

People supporting people
The Society's story is ultimately about community members giving time, attention and local knowledge to one another.
Today's programs continue that tradition through Friendly Visitor, Navigate, Caregiver Support and Intergenerational Connections. Each offers a different way to reduce isolation and make community easier to navigate.
