About the Society

A volunteer-led society for older adults

Senior Support North Vancouver Island strengthens wellbeing through companionship, practical information and community connection.

Why we are here

Connection supports healthy ageing

Older adults carry experience, knowledge and deep community ties. The Society helps sustain those ties when life changes make connection or navigation more difficult.

Programs are grounded in respectful peer relationships. Trained volunteers listen, share time and help people identify relevant community options without presenting their role as professional counselling.

  • Dignity: each person directs their own choices and priorities.
  • Respect: conversations begin without judgement or assumptions.
  • Connection: community relationships are central to wellbeing.
  • Clarity: the Society explains what volunteers can and cannot provide.

Person-centred connection

Support reflects the individual's interests, circumstances and goals rather than a fixed script.
